Saskatchewan bankruptcy question
asked May 7, 2019 by Anonymous
I am trying to help a family member with a bankruptcy in Saskatchewan. I don’t live there, and would like to know if bankruptcy in SK includes debt to CRA. I have worked with someone in BC and it was included here.
The CRA has statutory powers. Meaning filing for bankruptcy may not take care of debts your friend owes to the CRA. Depending on the circumstances, the CRA has been known to enforce collection of payroll source deduction debts even after the filing of a bankruptcy assignment or consumer proposal. This is true for Saskatchewan as well.
